With the growing popularity of LG Bottom Freezer Refrigerators, I decided to put up a page highlighting just them. Here you will find reviews of some of the popular models and tips on what to look for. In addition, you will see a range of prices and where to find the best deal.
Warning: Some LG Bottom Freezer Refrigerators Overheat
Since I have no vested interest in whether or not you purchase a LG bottom freezer refrigerator, I thought I would share some of my findings. I doing the research for this page, I found several reviews where people state the light fixture overheated. I have no personal knowledge on the subject but with as many as I found, I feel safe saying it has happened.
On the other hand, studies have shown that people are much more likely to write a negative experience than a positive one. This leads me to believe that not all the LG bottom freezer refrigerators have this problem.
Here is a list of the models that I found complaints of overheating:
- LG model LRFC2275 refrigerator
- LRFC22750SW
- Other models not specified
Benefit of a Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
The main reason people choose a bottom freezer refrigerator is for the ease of access. The drawer slides out giving you access to the freezer. This makes it easier to organize and find what you are looking for. Those who are petite like me will find the freezer works great. This is also a plus for anyone in a wheelchair.
Kids find the drawer nice as well. They can simply pull it open and grab an ice pop and go.
Problems of a Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
While the benefits are nice, you will want to think about a few of the cons. Generally, the storage of the bottom drawer is not as large as a side-by-side refrigerator, which is just as accessible.
While I could find no reports of children being injured, the drawer does make me nervous for toddlers. Frankly, I am worried that they could fall head first and get stuck. I do want to point out that I found no evidence of this happening. It is just my concern.
Considerations before Buying
Size
When you are looking for these refrigerators, you will need to measure your home carefully. Not only do you need to be concerned about the height and width, you need to measure how much room you have to pull the drawer out. It would be very frustrating to get the bottom freezer fridge home and find out you don’t have enough room to open the drawer.
Capacity
All refrigerator freezers have a different capacity. Given that refrigerators normally last a good ten years, consider your family size and need both now and in the future. It is always better to go with a slightly larger refrigerator than you need. This way you never have to worry about not enough room.
